If you live out in San Francisco or Oakland, you have the chance to see two great soul artists a few days apart in the beginning of September. I'll hate later. Details are below.

This is the last time I'm writing a post like this. Yes...another let down. New Amerykah Part II: Return of the Ankh will NOT be released in August. The fall months are looking more likely. But even though there will not be an album in August, word is there will be a single out. Keep your ears open for that.

In other news, she will be doing a lot of shows in the states and in Europe. On May 29th, she will be in Hawaii with Goapele so if you're down there, make sure you check them out. Other dates are listed on erykah-badu.com.

Next post on Erykah I make will have some solid news. Either that or a new song enclosed.

New Amerykah Part II Release Date?

Remember when Erykah Badu released New Amerykah Part I: 4th World War? Remember when she said she would be releasing several albums a few months apart? Remember when Part II was supposed to come out in July of '08? Remember when Part II was supposed to come out in November of '08? Remember when Part II was supposed to come out in February '09? Remember when you just forgot all about it? Well, start thinking about it again.

According to Rap-Up, New Amerykah Part II: Return of the Ankh now has a release date of August 18th. Hopefully this is the official date that WILL not change and hopefully she'll release a single in these upcoming months. If Part I was mind-blowing, one could only imagine how Part II will be.

Congratulations Erykah Badu.

Erykah gave birth to her second daughter and third child this afternoon. Congratulations for bringing another life into this world. We hope all is well. Take your time before getting back in that studio ;).



Update: Their new daughter has been named Mars Merkaba.

Merkaba, also spelled Merkabah, is the divine light vehicle allegedly used by ascended masters to connect with and reach those in tune with the higher realms. "Mer" means Light. "Ka" means Spirit. "Ba" means Body. Mer-Ka-Ba means the spirit/body surrounded by counter-rotating fields of light, (wheels within wheels), spirals of energy as in DNA, which transports spirit/body from one dimension to another.

Mysterious song from Erykah Badu "The Cannabinoid"

Found this song over at Think Differently Music blog. I'm thinking it has to do with Erykah Badu and some local bands, one of which is The Cannabinoids, in the Dallas, TX area doing a project together. Or it could be a sample from the upcoming album. Either way it's something new. Enjoy.

Here are clips of performances from Black Girls Rock! which took place yesterday. The performers were Marsha Ambrosius (from Floetry), Bilal, and Suai (I'm really on team Suai right now, she sounds amazing). I cannot wait to see the full performances.

Musiq and Mary J. Blige's video for "If U Leave" should be debuting very soon.

India.Arie is working hard on Testimony Vol. 2, Love & Politics.

Musiq and Anthony Hamilton are both releasing new albums on December 2nd. Check out Anthony's first single, "Cool" HERE. (I could do without David Banner).

Word on the street is New Amerykah Part II will be released in February of '09. I haven't seen or heard any solid proof, so I don't believe it just yet.

A clip of it was heard over at OkayPlayer last month, and it sounds GOOD. I'm not going to post it for certain reasons, but you could probably find it on your own. When a CDQ is released, I'll post that for sure.

Erykah Badu is working with Lil' Wayne for her upcoming album. Say it ain't so, Erykah. Say it ain't so.

In this clip, she talks about the Vortex Tour, her song selections for the tour, and some of the producers that she's working with on New Amerykah Part II.

Okay, so most of us have heard New Amerykah Part I: 4th World War and are waiting impatiently for Part II. Well, guess what? Word on the street is New Amerykah Part II: Return Of The Ankh will be released in November. At yesterday's concert, she performed a new song called "Jump Up In The Air," and said that it would be on Part II which will be released in November. Let's hope that this is true!
